I just wrote up a memo and I am posting it in all employee's email prohibiting V-Day gift deliveries.?

I am sick of these florists coming into this office on V-Day and Sweetest Day with crap for my employees. I have the memo already written and it will also be posted. Any employee getting these type of deliveries will get a verbal warning on the first offense and will be terminated on the second. Productivity has sucked in here today. Do any of you blame me for this? Give me your honest views.

You're disciplining your employees for receiving gifts they have no control over. Most people do not send florists to themselves, their loved ones do and by now it is far too late to be saying anything of it. If you didn't want people entering the building you should have sent the memo out at least a week ago so they could tell their SOs NOT to send them anything because they're going to get in trouble for it. Doing anything right now will only upset your employees and anyone who possibly receives anything. It's ONE day. Get over it. Holidays are normally unproductive because people have their minds elsewhere. What you SHOULD send a memo over is reminding everyone that even though today is Valentine's Day, you would like to see productivity stay as good as always and just gently remind them to try to stay on task as much as possible.
Reply:If people want to send a person flowers, the receiver has no control over it. Employees need little perks in their job in order to feel appreciated. One would be an easy going boss who doesn't try to stop fun things from happening, such as not allowing flowers etc. to be delivered.

Are you the Grinch who stole Valentine's Day? Lol. Even though people may be chatting and checking out other people's gifts today, tomorrow will be back to normal. Let them enjoy a little less productivity for one day. Besides, you're on Yahoo answers while at work (just like me), and that's not very productive.

I hope you didn't send that memo.
Reply:Well if you aren't the owner start filling out your resume. If you ar get ready to close your doors .
Reply:You cant punish your employees because someone else loves them and wants to express it. You dont want to be the boss thats an *** and everyone hates. It's only for 2 days out of the year and dont be such a grouch about it.

If it really is a big problem, then maybe try to come up with a plan that isnt so harsh, but include your employees in the policy making that way you dont look like an ***!
Reply:Well, it's kind of hard when you may have no control over who sends you something. Sounds like a lost cause to me. Your memo's going to be trampled on.
Reply:You will get just what you're asking for if you do that. You may be the boss, but you are clearly not a leader. Squash their spirit of good will today and they will sabatoge you in ways you never dreamed of. So what if one day is low, make it up and suck it up or you will be the sorry one. Honestly, what's the big deal from one who was a boss.
Reply:Do you think productivity will get any better by being such a dictator? You must be a very miserable person. Let people enjoy themselves, it's just one day.
Reply:That's horrible! The employee is not soliciting the delivery, it is something special done FOR them by someone else. If your significant other wants to surprise you by sending you a cookie bouquet or something, why should you be punished for that.

It seems a little like sour grapes to me. Don't penalize others for your lonliness. This is a day that comes once a year, and makes people feel loved and special, don't take that away from others. You have 364 other days to make them miserable.
Reply:You know what, our lives are so busy with work, running here and there etc. that I think it's good for a persons morale. You should notice a change in attitudes for the better. How dare you try to ban something this special to a person. Ya know most people don't have a lot to look forward to. It's work, go home work some more, go to bed, get up go to work, Come on think about it.
Reply:seriously ur pathetic! just because u dont have a gf or anyone to send u something at the moment... u dont have to be so harsh.... im mean its just one day for god sake...

if it annoys u so much.. i suggest take the day off work ;)

p.s probably ur productivity has sucked too.. if u have time to waste on yahoo answers, writing the memo, emailing it, complain and being all lousy.people with lousy moods work bad :D
Reply:you must be very unhappy and jealous because no one loves you.
Reply:So, how's your productivity on Christmas day? How about on July 4th? There are only a few holidays during the year that interfere with working. My suggestion is you tear up your memo, and let your employees enjoy feeling a little bit special on Valentine's day. Happy employees are more productive. If you run the place like a Victorian-era sweatshop, I can assure you that productivity will suffer.
Reply:if u were my boss and you give me a warning over something out of our control i would tell ya to put your job where the sun dont shine !!!!!!!!!!
Reply:you are just joking...

If you are not, you are just a little, miserable, insignificant human being.

Don't waste any more time here and use it on trying to become a happier person. I don't think you are contributing to productivity writing on yahoo answers, are you?

Is that even legal???

I still think you are joking...
