I just wrote up a memo and I am posting it in all employee's email prohibiting V-Day gift deliveries.?
I am sick of these florists coming into this office on V-Day and Sweetest Day with crap for my employees. I have the memo already written and it will also be posted. Any employee getting these type of deliveries will get a verbal warning on the first offense and will be terminated on the second. Productivity has sucked in here today. Do any of you blame me for this? Give me your honest views.

If you didn't want people entering the building you should have sent the memo out at least a week ago so they could tell their SOs NOT to send them anything because they're going to get in trouble for it. Doing anything right now will only upset your employees and anyone who possibly receives anything. It's ONE day. Get over it. Holidays are normally unproductive because people have their minds elsewhere. What you SHOULD send a memo over is reminding everyone that even though today is Valentine's Day, you would like to see productivity stay as good as always and just gently remind them to try to stay on task as much as possible.

Why do people continue to get me flowers for my birthday when I keep telling them I hate getting flowers?
WHY DO PEOPLE GIVE FLOWERS WHEN THEY REPRESENT NOTHING BUT DECAY?
Flowers are a nice gesture but flowers are VERY EXPENSIVE when ordered from a florist %26amp; delivered… They don’t last long… I have more vases then I know what to do with%26amp; end up giving them to GoodWill to join their collection of cheap “free” vases that come with flowers…
I find it depressing how the flowers are meant as a good thing but then they, like everything else, begins to decay, %26amp; end up rotten %26amp; in the trash… Last year on my b-day I got THREE DELIVERIES OF FLOWERS! I had no where to put them all %26amp; had to give them away to neighbors!
This year I only got 1 (thank god) but it doesn’t even have anything I can dry to use in an arrangement. They are all just ‘throw-out’ flowers. VERY EXPENSIVE ‘throw-out’ flowers

I am definitely laughing right now! Not at you, but with you. Every year I get clothes from people, and every year nothing fits. I tell them please don't buy me clothes, nothing EVER fits. If they cooperate, send them a thank you note. If they send flowers anyway, give them away, and let them know you did. Tell them you'd rather have NOTHING than flowers, thank you very much.
Reply:Why? Because they want someone to send THEM flowers! They don't listen to you either. Make a "wish list/gift list" and email to everyone. Have things on it that are in many different price ranges. Tell everyone that you just found out your are allergic to flowers and can't have any in your house so you wanted to help everyone with gift ideas! Okay, I know that is a big fib, but you need to take drastic steps! Make sure you have lots of ideas on the list and put in there that, when in doubt, you LOVE gift cards to your fav stores. Hopefully, you will get some different gifts next year!

I am definitely laughing right now! Not at you, but with you. Every year I get clothes from people, and every year nothing fits. I tell them please don't buy me clothes, nothing EVER fits. But what do you think happens-you got it-CLOTHES! The only difference between me and you is my cat doesn't eat my clothes.

Reply:Are you telling them collectively, as a group, or individually? As a group, they may not be listening. Tell each one, and tell them the options. Cash or gift certificates. If they cooperate, send them a thank you note. If they send flowers anyway, give them away, and let them know you did. Tell them you'd rather have NOTHING than flowers, thank you very much.
Reply:Why? Because they want someone to send THEM flowers! They don't listen to you either. Make a "wish list/gift list" and email to everyone. Have things on it that are in many different price ranges. Tell everyone that you just found out your are allergic to flowers and can't have any in your house so you wanted to help everyone with gift ideas! Okay, I know that is a big fib, but you need to take drastic steps! Make sure you have lots of ideas on the list and put in there that, when in doubt, you LOVE gift cards to your fav stores. Hopefully, you will get some different gifts next year!

Anyone Use ProFlowers?
I did and it was a joke! Flowers were supposed to be delivered on Thursday and didn't arrive till Monday. To top it off, they were completely dead. I called on Friday and got my money back. They tried to tell me I could only have a partial credit. I told them that the flowers would be 100% dead when they would arrive, if they ever would arrive. So they gave me all my money back.
They shipped using FedEx and were scheduled for Thursday. When they didn't arrive, I called on Friday morning. I was told that the truck had too many deliveries and they couldn't get to mine, but since they were left over from the previous day they would be the first to be delivered. Wrong! they didn't come till Monday and of course they were completely dead.
I'll never use ProFlowers again. I'll call a local florist or 1800flowers.com

I have had good flowers delivered with pro flowers although the person who orders always does it early so there is no rush-so I guess that is the secret?

Part of the problem for you was FedEx. They are absolutely horrible becuse we've used them for mailing stuff and they always are delayed - claiming it is out of their control. One time made sense - it was when that tropical storm was in Florida, but this most recent time makes no sense. FedEx is who you should be more upset with.

It was for Mother's Day and he left them at the wrong house and left them on the uncovered porch (of the wrong house) in pouring rain. We called them and they said the flowers had been delivered and wouldn't refund since they had been signed for. A few days later the person returned home from vacation, recognized the name, and brought them to our mom. They were african violets so totally dead. We called them again and they were really good about it and sent her a brand new batch the next day and refunded part of our money.

As for other gift ideas then maybe some items from the year of his birth like a football programme, coins, newspaper, special events items/memorabilia. Type his birth year into Ebay and see what comes up. No need to buy from there but it may give you some more ideas.

You can make one of the presents a treasure hunt. Hide all the presents with a clue as to where to find the next present! You can prepare this before you go as most hotels now show layouts for the room, so you can plan where to hide stuff and make appropriate clues.

* Write a small children's book with drawing /paintings /photoes about something that means a lot to both of you.
* Something "intimate" but fun (I'm talking sex toys or clothes!)

* A voucher that says you will do a chore that he hates for 1 week (eg I promise the bearer that I will do all washing-up for 1 week)
* Tickets to an event he would enjoy
